Mr Michael Uglow trained at St George’s Hospital Medical School, London. After completing his house jobs in Midhurst and Epsom he moved to Southampton where he completed his basic and higher surgical training as part of the Wessex regional rotation. He finished his training with a one year specialist fellowship in Paediatric Orthopaedic surgery at the New Children’s Hospital, Sydney, Australia. Mr Uglow was appointed as a Consultant to The Southampton University Hospitals NHS Trust after his first consultant post at Queen Alexandra Hospital, Portsmouth.

Mr Uglow works as a Consultant Orthopaedic surgeon and has a special interest in surgery of the foot and ankle and children’s orthopaedics. He also has an interest in sports injuries and provides orthopaedic services for patients of all ages with foot and ankle problems.

Mr Uglow has published on club foot surgery and various aspects of Orthopaedic trauma and is actively involved in ongoing research and education. He is frequently involved with lecturing at a national and international level.

Mr Uglow is currently the lead clinician for Children's Orthopaedic Surgery at Southampton General Hospital and has previously served as president of the British Orthopaedic Trainees Association.


Personal Profile

Mr Uglow is married with two young children. He enjoys playing tennis and golf as he is no longer able to play representative rugby, and enjoys keeping fit particularly with indoor rowing.  He enjoys travel and in particular outdoor activity holidays, especially skiing, hiking and water sports.
