In August 2008 my youngest son Oliver was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia. He has recently completed 4 courses of chemotherapy as an in patient at the Southampton General Hospital. The support from our friends and colleagues has been nothing short of overwhelming and I cannot thank everyone enough for their love and support. Oliver has benefitted from the very best of care on the Piam Brown ward. He has been entered into the AML15 trial which is being funded by the Medical Research Council. My wife and I are so grateful to all those parents over the years who have allowed their children to be entered into the trials so that Oliver is now benefiting from the experience which has developed over many years. The UK leads the treatment of AML and has the best cure rates in the world. A tremendous amount of work is being carried out to improve the cure rates of Leukaemia and other children's cancers and 'Leukaemia Research' has our full support. If you are in a position to help this excellent charity then my family and all those other families who have children with Leukaemia would be very grateful. My wife ran the London Marathon this year in a fantastic 4 hours and 10 minutes and raised over £7000 for CLIC Sargent which is a charity that gives tremendous support to families coping with childhood cancers. |
